We’ve got some big news straight from the brew tanks! We just tapped our latest IPA, Pipe Dreams! Which just so happens to be the very first Luce Line beer where the recipe design and brew day were all led by Assistant Brewer Dane Erickson. For Pipe Dreams, the goal was to create a West Coast IPA that had a more malty profile than some of our previous IPAs. We also wanted to use a hop bill that emphasized a touch more bitterness by using some classic American hops.
The mash consists of Pilsner malt along with some English caramel malt to give the beer a more orange color along with a slightly more robust flavor. The beer was hopped in the kettle with Columbus, Cascade and Simcoe. It was fermented with the classic Chico Ale Yeast which creates a dryer beer that allows the malt and the hops to shine. Once the beer was done fermenting, it was dry hopped with more Simcoe and Amarillo hops.
The final product is a classic West Coast IPA with moderate bitterness and notes of orange marmalade, grapefruit, pine and subtle resin.
